How to Plant Evergreens:

  1. Pick the Right Spot
Consider mature size, sunlight needs, and spacing for proper growth.
  2. Dig a Proper Hole
Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and just as deep.
  3. Prep Your Soil
Remove half the soil and replace it with our Garden Soil or Land & Sea Compost to improve nutrients and drainage. Mix in Holly-tone® so roots grow strong and plants establish quickly.
  4. Plant with Care
Set the plant so the root ball is level with the soil, then backfill with amended soil.
  5. Water & Mulch
Water deeply after planting and apply mulch to retain moisture and protect roots.

How to Care for Evergreens:

  • Feed for Strong Growth
Use Holly-tone® in Spring and Fallto support healthy growth. For arborvitae and boxwoods, use Plant-tone® since they do not require acidic soils.
  • Watering Tips
Keep soil consistently moist during establishment. Water deeply, especially during dry periods.
  • Prune as Needed
Light pruning helps maintain shape and remove damaged branches.
  • Protect Through Seasons
Maintain mulch and water well before winter to help prevent stress.
