Sweet, Compact, and Wonderfully Productive

Berries are small, flavorful fruits that grow on shrubs or low plants—like strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries. Easy to grow and incredibly rewarding, they bring fresh-picked sweetness right to your backyard or patio.

Most berries prefer full sun and slightly acidic, well-draining soil. Regular watering is especially important during fruiting. Pruning and thinning—depending on the variety—help maintain plant health and encourage better yields.

How to Plant Berries:

  1. Pick the Sunny Spot
Most berries need 6–8 hours of sunlight daily.
  2. Dig a Hole
Hole should be twice as wide and the same depth as the root ball so that roots can spread naturally.
  3. Prep Your Soil
Remove half the soil and replace it with a rich blend like our Land & Sea Compost or Garden Soil. Mix in Bio-tone® Starter Plus or Berry-tone to support strong root development.
  4. Plant Properly
Place the plant in the hole so that it sits at the same depth it was previously growing (use soil mark on the trunk as a guide). Fill rest of hole with amended soil.
  5. Water & Mulch
Water thoroughly after planting and add mulch to help retain moisture and keep weeds down.

How to Care for Berries:

  • Feed twice per year in early Spring and again in late Spring with Berry-tone®
  • Keep soil consistently moist
  • Prune to improve airflow and production
  • Support plants like raspberries if needed
  • Berries often require acidic soil for optimum growth and yield. Test your soil pH and add Soil Acidifier if needed to lower the pH.
