How to Plant Flowering Houseplants:
- Select a container that is larger than your plant’s current pot and has a drainage hole at the bottom with a tray beneath it to catch excess water.
- Fill the container 1/3 full with a high-quality Potting Mix, Orchid Mix or African Violet Mix.
- Carefully remove the plant from its current container and gently loosen the root ball. Center the plant in the new container and fill with additional potting mix.
- Allow at least 1 inch between the rim of the pot and the top of the soil. Gently pat down the mix and add more if required.
- Make sure the plant is about the same depth in the soil as it was in its original container.
- Water plant thoroughly with a slow gentle spray and allow to drain.
How to Care for Flowering Houseplants:
- Place in bright, indirect light (especially for orchids and African violets)
- In general, repot your plants once a year into a slightly larger pot.
- Water when the soil surface feels dry—avoid overwatering and wetting the leaves.
- Feed regularly with high quality organic Indoor, Violet, or Orchid plant food according to label instructions.
- Maintain moderate humidity, especially for orchids
Special Tips for Orchids & African Violets:
- Orchids prefer airy bark-based mixes and indirect light
- Water orchids sparingly—allow roots to dry slightly between waterings
- African violets prefer bottom watering to avoid spotting leaves
- Keep African violets in consistent temperatures and indirect light
