Since 1945, family-owned Tagawa Gardens has grown from a long-stem rose producer into one of Colorado’s premier destination garden centers. Known for its educational programs, seasonal events, and commitment to serving its community, Tagawa has built its reputation by making thoughtful, long-term decisions. That same philosophy extends to the brands they choose to partner with.

Their relationship with The Espoma Company began in 2014 with just a few products on the shelf. Today, Tagawa carries more than 30 Espoma products, a testament to what can happen when two family-owned companies commit to growing together.
This success didn’t happen overnight.
Rather than expanding the assortment as quickly as possible, Tagawa and Espoma took an intentional approach. New products were added only when there was a clear merchandising strategy, staff education, and confidence that each item would meet the needs of Tagawa’s customers. Espoma was equally selective, working alongside the Tagawa team to identify opportunities that fit their market and support long-term success.
The results have been both measurable and meaningful.
Today, Bio-tone® Starter Plus is Tagawa Gardens’ best-selling small bag fertilizer and has become a key component of the garden center’s planting services program, launched in 2025. Tomato-tone® and Garden-tone® rank as their second and third best-selling small bag fertilizers, demonstrating strong customer confidence across the Espoma Organic line.
Through consistent merchandising, knowledgeable staff recommendations, and a shared commitment to helping gardeners succeed, Espoma and Tagawa have built a program that continues to grow year after year.

We’re especially grateful to John Perez, Hard Goods Department Supervisor, and the entire Tagawa Gardens team for their enthusiasm, support, and commitment to making this partnership a success.
This success story is rooted in the shared values of two family-owned businesses: building lasting relationships, earning trust, and believing that the strongest partnerships are cultivated with patience, collaboration, and a long-term vision.
